This is a step-by-step guide to help you with backing up your CostOS Database, along with all your Projects, Resources, Assemblies and Layouts saved.
The guide is based on the Database Server tool that is suggested by Nomitech, MICROSOFT SQL Server 2014. Same steps can be applied for MICROSOFT SQL Server 2012.
1.Start SQL Server Management Studio
2.Connect to the Database Server your data is saved at by using the machine's IP and the port as configured during CostOS Server Installation.
Choose SQL Server Authentication and connect with your Database Server Credentials.
If you are on the same machine your DB Server is operating at, you can use '127.0.0.1' as 'Server name' and 'Windows Authentication' on 'Authentication'.
Click on Connect to continue.
3.On the panel that appears on the left, expand the server panel and then the 'Databases' folder.
4.Look for the Database name that you had configured your CostOS Server to connect to during installation. Right click on it and choose 'Back up...' from the 'Tasks' tab.
5.On the panel that appears, among other settings, at the bottom, you will see a bar where you choose the path that your database will be stored as a file.
Press OK to continue.
6.Your database should now be successfully backed-up at the directory you have chosen. You may repeat the same process for your main 'Project Database', where all projects are saved by default and/or for any separate project database(s).

7.For the restore process you need to once more have open Management Studio and connect to your Database Server. If not already done, follow steps 1-3 of this guide.
8.Find the Database you want to restore to an earlier version, right click on it and choose 'Database' from the 'Tasks' and then 'Restore' tab.
9.If you are on the same machine as the one you backed-up the Database(s) you want to restore, the restore point should appear automatically. If not, put a copy of the file into this directory:
'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup', and now it should appear automatically too.
In the third tab, 'Options', select the option 'Close existing connection to destination database'
This means that the Server of CostOS will be stopped and should be restarted afterwards.
Click OK to proceed with the restore process.
10. Your database(s) have been restored successfully!
