SQL Server Express

SQL Server Express may only be used at no charge for development and testing, as well as for “micro workloads” such as mobile or web apps with minimal relational database requirements. The free license does not apply to instances running on virtual machines

Database Filestream

Filestream is a required feature that must be enabled on the Database Instance that CostOS will use.

Filestream, as a feature, allows binary data to be saved to the filesystem instead of the database. This provides a performance enhancement, when used for large ammounts of data. Furthermore, Filestream protects data integrity because the file operations are performed as part of a transaction.

Filestream Data are still saved in tables, like traditional BLOB data types.

Normally, CostOS Server Installer will enable and configure this feature automatically. See more at Install and configure CostOS Application Database (Microsoft SQL Server)
